Strategic Destination Film Partner

I help destinations and hospitality brands turn a sense of place into desire that converts.

I start by understanding what you need the film to achieve, who you need to reach and what you need them to feel and do. Then I design and deliver cinematic work that makes it happen.

St Helena Island - Come and Find Me

A destination film created for St Helena Tourism. The goal was to reach experienced travellers who had already seen much of the world and still wanted something less familiar.

Design

The film was built around atmosphere, people, and the quiet sense of discovery that makes St Helena different, not a catalogue of things to do.

Diagnosis

Experienced travellers needed more than a list of activities. They needed to feel the distinctive character and emotional pull of the island.

“Darren’s commitment to high-quality storytelling and his collaborative approach with local talent has set a new standard for capturing the soul of St Helena, translating stunning land and seascapes and our unique cultural heritage into cinematic narratives.”

Who I work with

  • Destination Marketing Organisations & Tourism Boards

  • Luxury and independent hospitality brands

  • Experience and adventure tourism operators

  • Places with a distinctive character that needs to be felt, not just shown

You should work with me if you need a film that does more than look good, one designed around a clear objective and delivered at a cinematic standard that holds up internationally.

How I work

Every project follows a clear process. This protects both the quality of the final film and the commercial objective behind it.

Diagnose

We clarify the real objective: who you need to reach, what you need them to feel, and what action you need the film to drive.

Design

I develop the creative approach that connects your commercial goal with the true character of the place.

This process ensures the film is both strategically sound and cinematically strong.

Deliver

I produce cinematic work that meets the strategic brief, not generic beautiful footage, but film designed to achieve a specific result.

Darren D. Peens

I’m Darren Peens, an internationally award-winning filmmaker specialising in destination and hospitality storytelling.

My background in music, art and design shapes how I see a place: its rhythm, atmosphere, people and the details that stay with you. Across more than 25 years of creative work, I’ve been drawn to stories that make people feel something.

I work with tourism organisations and hospitality brands to connect what makes their destination distinctive with the people they want to reach. That starts with understanding the objective, then finding the creative approach that feels true to the place.

“We have a word in Portuguese, ‘saudade’, which cannot be translated literally. It’s a state of profound nostalgic longing for a beloved yet absent something, someone or someplace. It’s visceral. And I felt it acutely watching these videos. I adore them. What a talent!”
